TOPS School-Wide Expectations

Highlands/Odyssey has implemented the TOPS (“Tigers and Owls Positively Successful”) Program to teach our school expectations to our students.

This matrix is used to reinforce our “3 BE’s” as the structure for these expectations:

Message from the Principal

Welcome to Highlands Elementary School! We’re proud to be one of 17 elementary schools in the Appleton Area School District. Since opening our doors in 1967, Highlands has been a place where students are supported, challenged, and inspired to grow. Today, we serve approximately 510 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. After fifth grade, our students continue their educational journey at Wilson Middle School and then Appleton West High School.

For nearly 60 years, Highlands has been committed to meeting the unique needs of every learner. Originally designed to serve students with special needs, our school continues to build on that legacy by creating an inclusive environment where every child can thrive, including those who are English Learners, those who need enrichment/are ready for accelerated curriculum, and those who require more personalized instruction. Through collaboration, research-based teaching practices, and a focus on individual student growth, we work every day to help each student reach their full potential.

At Highlands, students are at the heart of everything we do.

We believe in educating the whole child by nurturing academic success, social-emotional well-being, and the lifelong skills needed for the future. We know this work is strongest when we partner together. Students, families, and staff all play an important role in creating a supportive and successful school community.
